Agritourism student tour

Students enjoy ice-cream at Ashburn Farms.

Year 11 and 12 Certificate II in Tourism students are undertaking studies in Wine Tourism. Students are getting involved in the local wine tourism industry by making weekly visits to the QCWT and actively assisting winemaker Peter Orr with the harvest and winemaking. Students are learning that wine tourism not only involves visits to wineries, vineyard walks, or taking an active part in the harvest but also can include visits to other regional attractions such as strawberry and other farms, accommodation places, restaurants and nature based activities. Recently students visited Ashburn Farms and greatly enjoyed a farm and packing shed tour, picking strawberries in the field and eating a yummy strawberry ice-cream! This was part of their research into Agritourism on the Granite Belt making note as to how it complements the Wine Tourism industry.
