Bookfair gets creepy

Stanthorpe State High staff getting into the spirit of Bookfair.

Goosebumps is the theme to this year’s Bookfair at Stanthorpe State High School and the moment you walk into the Resource Centre you can tell. It is covered in spider webs, bats are hanging from the ceiling and skeletons lurk in dark corners. This year’s Bookfair encourages readers to grab a popular Goosebump story and scare themselves – well maybe just a little!

Resource Centre Manager Mrs Melissa Pascoe invites all primary school students to come and visit the Bookfair this week. “We are open in the afternoons until 4pm so students can bring their parents along to read a book, make a craft or see what books are for sale from Scholastic. Most local primary schools are coming to enjoy our extended activities this week where they will be making spider drinks and eating mummies in Home Economics; watching reactions happen in Science where the goose bumps will literally be on their arms as well as setting off other fun chemical reactions. The Year 10 drama students have written a play just for Bookfair and will be performing it every day as part of the activities. But if you want to come back and spend some more time, you can, each afternoon.”

Home schooled students are also welcome to join in, just contact the school Resource Centre (Library) to book an appropriate time slot or pop in after 3pm.

Bookfair is open from Monday 31st July up until and including Monday 7th August until 4pm each day.
