On Thursday 12th February, Stanthorpe SHS hosted the Border District summer sports trials. These trials are held to determine district teams for Open girls Softball, Open boys and girls Tennis, Open and U15 boys and girls Touch Football and Open and U14 boys cricket. Students successful at gaining selection into these district teams then go on to trial at the Darling Downs regional level.

A number of Stanthorpe SHS students gained selection in their chosen sports. Natasha Lacey and Ellice Orreal were selected for the Open girls and U15 girls Touch Football teams respectively. Brother and sister combination of Jack Williams and Georgia Williams made the district tennis team, while Jordan Lanza and Thomas Furness were selected in the Open boys cricket team. These students travelled to Toowoomba on Tuesday 17 February to attend the Darling Downs regional trials. Alex Cameron, Kirby Morunga and Jye Burley were selected in the U14 boys cricket team. They now have a long wait as the Darling Downs trials for U14 cricket are held in October.  Congratulations to all students involved and to those who gained selection.

A huge thanks to the Stanthorpe Rugby League club and the Stanthorpe Tennis Association for the use of their facilities to run these trials. Your continued support is much appreciated.
