Certificate I in Automotive

A group of Grade 10 students at Stanthorpe State High School recently participated in the Certificate 1 in Automotive Vocational Preparation course. The course was run through the Granite Belt and Border College of Trades and provided students with the opportunity to learn about various mechanical and electrical systems and components while rebuilding small 4 stroke engines. As part of the course students participated in an excursion to Central Motors where they learned about vehicle hoists and waste oil disposal procedures. Students also visited Pete’s Hot Rods and Resto Shop at Cottonvale where they discovered many interesting aspects of the hot rod scene. Highlights included a Flathead V8 motor running with only one head fitted and a detailed look at a quick change rear end. Many thanks to Central Motors and to Pete and his team for their time and effort.  Stanthorpe State High School and the Granite Belt and Border College of Trades greatly appreciates the commitment and enthusiasm shown by our local community toward teaching the younger generation valuable practical skills.
