The students in the year 8 STEM class participated in a project based learning unit called Create4Space produced by Cuberider. They were among only 45 schools in Australia to participate in this first ever space mission program. This involved learning about space and learning to code in python. The result was an experiment which they designed to test if the magnetic radiation (given out by solar activity of the Sun) affects the stability of the International Space Station.

The students have programmed a Sagan satellite board to collect and record the necessary data as the ISS orbits the Earth. The satellite board will be sent up to the ISS in a Space -X rocket in December. Data will be recorded and sent back to Earth by the ISS astronauts and then analysed. We are awaiting the results eagerly.
