Ekka success at cattle exhibit

Jack Griffiths accepting his win for Grand Champion Junior Parader.

It’s been a first showing at the Brisbane Ekka Cattle Exhibit for Stanthorpe State High School students, Laura Sands, Shania Connolly, Adam Williamson and Jack Griffiths.  All students placed well in the heats of the 14 and 15 years Junior Paraders competition at the Ekka.

Adam and Jack went on to the finals with Adam narrowly missing the cut for the final eight.

The cattle exhibiting skills of Jack Griffiths, which have been perfected over several years, paid off in spades with Jack winning the 14/15 years Junior Paraders and the overall Parader for all age groups.

With over 150 students in the 14/15 yrs division and approximately 350 across all divisions battling it out for the top honours, the competition was fierce.

The quality of the Stanthorpe State High School Show Team was on display for all to witness with Jack’s final crowning as the Grand Champion Junior Parader and Handler. This was an outstanding and impressive win and very well deserved.

The school exhibited two Limousin X Angus steers with the lighter steer placing 3rd in Class 2A Steers between 350-375 kg. This was an open class competition.

Students are now busy preparing for the Ag Show in September.
