QATSIF recipients

This year’s QATSF scholarship recipients are Hannah Wright, Jacob Rashleigh and Sam Wright

The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) was created to give Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families financial support in managing the increasing costs of senior education. The QATSIF money is obtained from the interest obtained from stolen wages (so far not claimed) that is with the Public Trustee.

QATSIF is committed to supporting "Closing the Gap" initiatives to increase Indigenous student retention rates in Years 11 and 12 supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to achieve their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) by the end of Year 12. Under this program, QATSIF will provide two-year scholarship funding to a number of selected secondary schools across Queensland to support individual students commencing Year 11 in 2018 and Year 12 in 2019. In essence, the program operates by providing funds to families through schools who successfully apply for scholarships. The schools then use the funds to provide support to the individual students nominated in the school's application across the two years of their QCE studies.
