STEM Girl Power Camp

Following a rigorous selection process undertaken by the Department of Education and Training, Anna Henderson in Year 10 has been chosen to attend the STEM Girl Power Camp in Brisbane in March. STEM is short for the study and practice of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). To be selected into this program, Anna had to demonstrate not only outstanding Mathematics and Science results but also demonstrate her leadership within the school community and beyond. Anna is a worthy recipient as an active member of school committees and as a Venturer Scout and regular volunteer for the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe.

The STEM Girl Power Camp will be held in Brisbane from 21–25 March 2017. The camp aims to provide students with experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and to encourage students to participate in these learning areas at school and consider it as a future career option. During the camp, she will join other Year 10 girls from around Queensland to experience the World Science Festival and meet role models, undertake activities and visit researchers, all in the fields of science, engineering and mathematics.

The Stanthorpe State High School community congratulates Anna and hopes she enjoys her camp and comes back ready with great ideas as a STEM leader at our school.
