Stanthorpe Show a big success

Zac Cameron and Sam Fittler won their respective Young Beef Judges Competitions at the Stanthorpe Show on the weekend.

The Stanthorpe Agricultural Show was a perfect opportunity for our staff and students to work on this year’s priority – expanded engagement with parents and the community - and we took full advantage of it. As a fundraiser for the tourism/agricultural trip to California, staff, students and their families worked on the show gates all weekend.

Thanks must go to Ann Richardson and Pauline Drayton for coordinating this. Two staff members, Angie Ezzy and Sue Caldwell introduced the use of some new technology and assisted the recording and communication of results to the main arena. In the future, this may expand into other areas of the show. Well done ladies.

Our students were successful in many areas and competitions including cooking, photography, horse events, prime and stud cattle, individual parading and beef judging, dog showing, craftsmen and trays of fruit competitions. Some demonstrated their dancing skills while many others were involved manning the stalls over the 2 main days. But even before the big weekend, our staff and students assisted in the preparation of the grounds.

Well done to all who took home ribbons or trophies. But even more importantly, thank you to all staff and students who participated and helped make the show the success that is was.
