Students Pay Respect

School Captains lead the Stanthorpe State High School contingent through the main street.

All Stanthorpe State High School students participated in a very solemn ceremony on Friday 24th of April in honour of ANZAC Day. The ceremony began with the Red Cross speech followed by the reading of journal entries from Private John Murray who was part of the Gallipoli landing. Emma Beecham and Georgia Marcus, accompanied by Justin Markoski, performed a very moving rendition of ‘The Band Played Waltzing Matilda’. Mr Jono Bushby then played The Last Post followed by a minutes silence before the Reveille.

Many students also braved the cold and attended the various Dawn Services around the district including Stanthorpe, Liston and Wallangara. There were also a large numbers of students representing the school in both the mid-morning march and following service. It was great to see so many students paying their respects at all then services across the Granite Belt. Thank you to all staff and students involved.
