Students dance at GBPAC

2 new groups danced their way into their very first competition over the Mother’s Day weekend. Dance Extension and Senior Sports Dance groups from Stanthorpe State High School Dance Extension competed at the Granite Belt Performing Arts Challenge GBPAC. Both groups are new to Stanthorpe State High School only forming earlier this year. The Dance extension group performed two dances, a jazz piece and a contemporary piece, placing 3rd and a highly commended respectively. The jazz piece “Outside” was awarded 86/100, with comments commending their performance skills. “Waves” the contemporary dance performed by Dance Extension scored 80/100 and received comments from the adjudicator commending the choreography of the dance. The Senior Sport group competed in the Hip Hop section placing 3rd with a score of 85/100.  All dance groups were competing against independent dance schools and performed extremely well in their sections.  Both groups are looking forward to their next competition in August at the Tenterfield Eisteddfod. Great job dancers!
