Students develop international relationships

Visiting Shiwa students with host students at Donnelly’s Castle.

Every year Japanese students from our sister city, Shiwa, are billeted by the students of Stanthorpe State High School and their families. This year’s group of Shiwa students joined five billeting families for four days of truly Australian cultural experiences. The majority of host students live out of town on rural properties, which provided the exchange students the opportunity to experience a few days in the life of an average Australian family from the Granite Belt. They participated in classes with the host students as well as taking field trips to popular attractions around the Granite Belt, including Suttons Farm, Granite Belt Dairy and Donnelly’s Castle. All of the host students and families treasured this amazing experience and are very thankful to have been given this opportunity.
