Success at Queensland Culinary Challenge

Cullinary Challenge

Congratulations Lachie, Alex, Shanae and Emily.

The Junior Culinary Challenge was again a success story for the Stanthorpe High team this year. The Challenge is a state wide cookery competition for Year 10 students. Stanthorpe High teams have taken out top medal positions over the last 5 years and this year is no exception.  Our two teams have been mentored by QCWT Executive Chef Andrew Simpson and his team who taught them knife skills, team work, food preparation and an appreciation for flavour and presentation of fine food. Mrs Thorne taught the students the necessary business requirements for budgeting and document creation. At the Gold Coast Show, the teams prepared and presented a gourmet dish under set criteria and were watched by a large audience. Alex Cameron and Lachie Harrison earned a bronze medal and Shanae Warry and Emily Fairbank not only achieved a Silver medal but came third in the State. The two teams will be producing their unique dishes for the Rotary Club of Stanthorpe and their families next week.
