Year 10 Students attend Speed Date Your Career

17/05/2018

Speed dating inspires Stanthorpe’s bright young students to find new and exciting careers.

Thought speed dating was all about finding love and romance? For the Stanthorpe State High School Year 10 students, it could very well be the beginning of a budding career!

On Thursday May 10th the year 10 students flirted with their future careers when Southern Downs Regional Council in conjunction with Stanthorpe State High School hosted Speed Date Your Career.

Businesses and industry individuals came to the school to share their career know-how and experiences to inspire high school students and to maximise their exposure to new career opportunities and possibilities.

Students spent 5 minutes with each career speaker before moving on to the next in an afternoon of discovery as a part of their pastoral care and career programs. It was a great opportunity to see just how many different jobs are in our community and what they entail. Thanks goes to the Southern Downs Regional Council staff member, Jenny Sherrin, for providing so much assistance for this event.
