Year 11 Camp

Year 11 camp

We set off on Monday 15 August for Pindari Dam camp, near Inverell, NSW. After months of anticipation, at last Year 11 camp had arrived. Thirty-seven Year 11 students and five staff knew it would be a tough camp both physically and mentally but were up for the challenge. The Year 11’s were prepared for a week of sleeping in swags, living on army rations and less than glamorous bathroom facilities but took it all in their stride.

Developing strong friendships, teamwork and personal resilience were the primary goals for the week. The ANZAC values of perseverance, courage, self-sacrifice and mateship were our themes on camp and through the camp activities and story-telling, the Pindari Dam staff allowed our students to explore their personal values, attitudes and beliefs. Activities included bush survival skills, GPS hiking, twister buggies, boat activities, a night walk through a rocky canyon, climbing the buttress and (for the very thick-skinned) swimming.

We returned on Friday 19 August tired but with a sense of pride.  As a result of this amazing experience, the Year 11’s have undoubtedly grown personally and formed many new and stronger friendships.
